A WARNING ABOUT BOILER WATER TREATMENT CHEMICALS

Boiler water treatment chemicals may be used to neutralize carbonic acid and other corrosives that can occur in condensate, BUT THESE CHEMICALS SHOULD NEVER BE INTRODUCED DIRECTLY INTO THE VACUUM PUMP OR BOILER FEED PUMP’S RECEIVER.

Boiler water treatment chemicals are usually alkaline compounds. A large dose of boiler water treatment chemical added to the receiver can cause a high alkaline concentration to occur. High alkaline concentrations can be very corrosive to bronze and brass components including pump impellers, wear rings, rotors, valve bodies, etc.

We recommend these boiler water treatment chemicals be introduced into the boiler feed pump discharge piping, downstream from any pumping equipment.
